Rev. Canon K. Dexter Cheney
The Rev. Canon Dexter Cheney holds a BBA from Nichols College, received his MBA from the University of Oregon, and earned his M Div. from Episcopal Divinity School. His military active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve includes Operations Officer, Captain of the Port Office in Cleveland, Ohio, Commanding Officer, Loran Station Ocean Cape, in Yakutat, Alaska, and Chief, Career Patterns and Training Programs Branch, Reserve Training Division, U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He has served as Rector at St. Columba Church in Detroit, Michigan and Chief Administrative Officer and Canon to the Ordinary at the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan,. In addition, Fr. Cheney has worked with many congregations in transition in the Diocese of Connecticut. His other church related work includes Standing Committee, Assistant Secretary of the Diocesan Convention, Diocesan Insurance Board, and Transition Ministry Advisory Committee. In 2010-2011, Fr. Cheney served as chair of the Charter Revision Commission in Hamden, Connecticut. He is married to the Rev. Canon Barbara T. Cheney and has two stepchildren.
