| The Music Program at St. Thomas’s |
| The music program at St. Thomas’s has been designed to foster each child’s ability to sing in tune, to listen actively to music, to read music through playing recorder and classroom instruments, to participate in folk dancing and to join his/her classmates in several dramatic-musical performances through the years at the school. Every child from JK through Grade 6 has music twice a week for a half-hour each session. In addition, the Bluestars, a voluntary choir of third through sixth graders, meets once a week for 45 minutes on Friday mornings before school. The choir performs for school functions as well as presenting concerts for local retirement homes and other community events. |

The time spent in music is devoted to developing singing skills and to learning a large repertoire of songs, learning to read music while singing and playing instruments, learning to appreciate music of the Classic masters as well as the music of jazz greats, developing the ability to dance a large variety of folk dances including American square dance, and participating in dramatic and musical presentations presented to other students, parents, teachers and guests. <!--EndFragment--> |
