The Art Program at St. Thomas’s Day School is designed to allow students to explore and develop their visual expression while experiencing and experimenting with a variety of materials, tools and techniques.  Age appropriate projects are designed to foster learning, self expression, and critical and creative thinking. Through individual accomplishments self- esteem, creativity, and expressive capability are enhanced. The program develops both sensory awareness and manipulative skills.

The artistic human experience, both past and present, is explored first hand with the aid of books, stories, movies, and field trips. Students examine and emulate artistic techniques of  people the world over.

All St. Thomas's students work in the art studio in small groups for 45 minutes to 1 hour each week.   We strive to expand sensitivity to the environment and foster the capacity for creativity while providing projects that are enjoyable and personally satisfying. Students are  encouraged to develop a taste for the visual arts and a sense of confidence in their own capacity for visual communication.

Take a tour and sample our work and various projects. Enjoy!
